Flagging off the contest, Mr. Siva Ganapathi, Chief Operating Officer, Karnataka, Idea Cellular, said, “The youth of Karnataka is talented, ambitious and has the urge to do something big and different. However sometimes their achievements and talents do not get due recognition owing to the lack of opportunities at the local level. To address this gap, Idea has launched, ‘Idea Student Awards’, wherein we will go to 3,000 Colleges in Karnataka to identify and promote talent. We are hopeful of a lot of participation in this activity. Our panel of judges will choose 10 achievers who will win their dream awards. We want to encourage students to showcase their talents”.
Few Colleges have their own recognition programs for extracurricular activities but again that is restricted only to the college level or few inter college fests. There is no big platform available in Karnataka where these extra-ordinary personalities get recognition at the state level. ‘Idea Student Awards-2012’ will provide encouragement, sense of contribution, glamour and success quotient amongst the student fraternity.
