DOLE-CAR to host 12th National PESO Congress

The Department of Labor and Employment - Cordillera regional office (DOLE-CAR) is set to host here the 12th National Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Congress.

More than 1,000 PESO officers from all over the country are expected for this year’s congress, which will be held at the Baguio Country Club on October 10 to 13.

DOLE Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz will be the guest of honor.

Regional Director John Henry Jalbuena said the annual national PESO Congress facilitated by DOLE, through the Bureau of Local Employment (BLE) and the Public Employment Service Office Philippines, Inc., aims to recognize the performance and contribution of PESO in the facilitation of employment services at the community level throughout the country.

“The said Congress will also give an opportunity for the PESO officers to exchange ideas, experiences, concerns, and best practices, which will provide valuable inputs and inspiration in crafting programs and policies, relative to addressing employment service issues," Jalbuena said.

Republic Act No. 8759 or the PESO Act of 1999 mandates the establishment of PESO in every province, city, municipality, state and private colleges and universities, non-government organizations, and community-based organizations.

It aims to carry out state policy to provide full employment and equality of employment opportunities for all and to strengthen and expand the existing employment facilitation service machinery of the government at the local levels. (JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)
