Dabbawalas spell out their success story at Career Business School

Mumbai Dabbawalas, who are world famous for their food supply network, visited the campus of Career Business School to share their six sigma standard of delivering Tiffin boxes across Mumbai with the students and the faculty members of the institute. The Event was organized in association with CII and Young Indians, Bhopal.

The Dabbawalas shared their secret of delivering 2 lakh dabbas on time with an accuracy rate of 99.99% with 100% customer satisfaction. This is the perfect example of excellent supply chain and logistics management.
The corporate ideals of teamwork, dedication and accuracy were reflected with a whole new perspective for these students as Pawan G Agarwal, Director of the Mumbai Dabbawala Education Centre elaborated on the complexities involved in the life of a Mumbai Dabbawala to them.
"Consistency is the key to ensure a meticulous network with an error rate of just one in 16 million transactions. At the end of the day it’s just effective team works. The Dabbawalas do not have any time to waste while on duty and the main objective is customer satisfaction when the delivery is made. As per the management structure of the Dabbawalas, the oldest member is appointed as team leader, with more than 10 members under him, whom he will have to motivate. Any internal issue that crops up among the Dabbawalas are sorted out without affecting the overall efficiency" said Pawan G Agarwal.
