Dhoni within touching distance of top spot in Reliance Mobile ICC Player Rankings

India’s one-day captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is within touching distance of regaining top spot in the Reliance Mobile ICC ODI Player Rankings.

And there is a new name at the top of the bowling list with Australia’s Nathan Bracken taking over the number one position from Daniel Vettori of New Zealand.

Dhoni was last at the head of affairs among the world’s top one-day batsmen for one week in April 2006 and now, at the conclusion of the Asia Cup in Pakistan, he has only South Africa’s Graeme Smith ahead of him.

Hong Kong Government warns against recovery agents

Hong Kong Government told members of the public to watch out against the touting activities of recovery agents who advertise their services in assisting clients handle claims for accident compensation on a "no win, no charge" basis.

Under the laws of Hong Kong, unlawfully maintaining or sharing the profits of legal proceedings may constitute criminal offences, which are subject to a fine and up to seven years' imprisonment. This policy is something that Government in India should also consider while managing the menace of recovery agents in the country.

Emigration Act to be tightened shortly


Government has finalised amendments to the Emigration Act and the changes will be in place shortly. This was announced by the Union Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs, Shri Vayalar Ravi in New Delhi today. He was addressing a Consultation Meeting with the State Governments on issues relating to the Overseas Indian Community. He said, the law will now provide for stringent action against those indulging in ‘human smuggling’. He hoped that India will soon have a labour agreement with Saudi Arabia for protection and welfare of Indian workers in the region.
